National Directorate The Judiciary Police, through the Criminal Information Unit, located and arrested, in Tavira, a 40-year-old French-Portuguese citizen, in compliance with a European arrest warrant issued by the judicial authorities of France, sentenced to a five-year prison term for the crimes of arms trafficking and money laundering. The events occurred in 2023, when, at a highway toll plaza, customs officials searched a vehicle driven by the now-detained individual. Hidden inside, they found the amount of 18,720 euros, two grenades, an unloaded pistol, an empty magazine, and five 9 mm caliber rounds of ammunition. Investigations revealed several other cases of transporting prohibited goods and money between Portugal and Normandy.
