Corrections and right of reply
We publish a lot and quickly, with strong automated collection support. This makes errors possible. This page explains how we correct them, how long it takes, and how to exercise the right of reply.
We always correct
A confirmed error is corrected, not silently deleted. The correction is recorded within the article itself.
Deadline
We analyse all requests and respond, as a rule, within 48 business hours. Serious factual errors are corrected as soon as they are confirmed.
Right of reply
Anyone directly targeted by an article has the right to a reply, published with the same prominence as the original article.
How to request a correction
- Write to geral@omeuconcelho.pt with the subject "Correction".
- Provide the URL address of the page where the error is located — this allows us to locate the exact article.
- Describe what is wrong and, if possible, indicate the correct information and its source.
- If you are an interested party (local politician, leader, person targeted by the news), tell us in what capacity you are speaking. It is not mandatory, but it speeds up verification.
What we do with your request
- We confirm the error with the original source before changing anything.
- Factual error (name, date, value, location, attribution): we correct the text and add a correction note with the date.
- Error of interpretation or framing: we add the clarification in the body of the article, keeping the original text visible.
- Article without sufficient grounds to remain online: we unpublish it and publicly explain the reason, instead of making it disappear.
- Republication of an official source with an error at the origin: we correct it on our end and indicate that the origin was rectified.
Right of reply
- Available to any individual or legal entity directly targeted by an article that they consider affects their good name or reputation.
- Send the reply text to geral@omeuconcelho.pt with the subject "Right of reply" and the indication of the article in question.
- The reply is published without comment or interpolated assessment, with the same prominence and in the same section as the original article.
- We only refuse when the reply is unrelated to the article, disproportionately exceeds its length, or contains illicit content — and in that case, we explain the refusal in writing.
Content removal
- We do not remove articles because they are inconvenient. We remove them due to a serious incurable error, unlawfulness, or legal duty.
- Right to be forgotten requests (personal data in old articles) are analysed on a case-by-case basis, weighing the public interest and the time elapsed. See the Privacy and GDPR page.
- Copyright: if your content was improperly used, identify it and we will remove it or correct the attribution with priority.
